Formations

FlightFormation Docs Image

Formations specify the size (Standard-1X, Performance-L, etc.) and quantity (1, 2, 3, etc.) of the dynos that run your application. Think of formations as recipes for the different processes in your Procfile.

Creating a Formation

Creating formations is easy. To get started, click the "Formations" tab to navigate to your formations page. Click the "Create new formation" button and we'll automatically pre-fill the form with your application's current dyno count and size, then you can tweak as necessary.
Here is a quick video showing how to make a basic Weekday and Weekend formation.

Creating more formations

You can create as many formations as you like, and they can be as simple or as complex as you need. For example, you could have a formation for weekdays, weekends, nights, and even maintenance (off).

Schedule your formations

Once you have a few formations, head over to the schedules page to create a schedule that will automatically deploy them when you want.
